Native plants are perceived as requiring fewer inputs, especially in terms of pesticides,
fertilizers, and water. Introduced woody species are increasingly perceived as undesirable,
primarily because they are lumped together with their invasive counterparts. How does
provenance really affect the ability of plants to provide food and habitat to our beneficial
wildlife? This presentation will present a more informed and successful approach to plant
selection than simply looking at place of origin.
